When I first switched over to Gmail from Yahoo mail about a couple of years back, one of the things that impressed me was that Gmail offered free POP3 access to my mails while Yahoo didn’t. Yahoo did and still allows POP3 access as a premium service. (Prior to April 2002, even yahoo was offering free POP3 access to yahoo mails). Having POP3 access to your mails is extremely useful if you have lots or mails and would like to read your mails offline in your favorite mail client.

But with a little help from YPOPs!, Yahoo users can also get POP3 access to their mails without opting for the premium service. YPOPs! is an application that provides POP3 access to Yahoo! Mail. It is available oÂn the Windows, Linux, Solaris and Mac platforms.
How YPOPS! works?
YPOPs! is more like a gateway. It provides a POP3 server interface at oÂne end to talk to email clients and an HTTP client (browser) interface at the other which allows it to talk to Yahoo! YPOPs! claims that the software does not violate the license agreements of Yahoo! Mail and that the application is completely legitimate and well within the realms of legal software. But I would suggest that you get it confirmed from Yahoo! yourself.
