If you are registering a new Skype account, you would do good to double check the email id that you enter. Especially, make sure that there are no typos when you enter your email address.
The problem is that after you download the software, you are asked to enter your email address. A note below the field says that “a valid email is the only way to retrieve lost passwords.” But strangely, the form does not have a secondary field to retype your email address to ensure that you’ve entered it accurately. What’s more, Skype does not even send you a verification email.
As long as you have entered a valid email and you don’t forget your Skype account password, things are fine. But if you had entered an invalid email, like maybe a typo, and on a later date you forget your password, then there is no way you can retrieve your password. Then again, if you had purchased anything on Skype, then Skype would have validated your email and your password be retrieved.
But if you hadn’t made any purchase, then you are left with no other option other than creating a new account.
