Snap CO2 Saver - Helps you save power and reduce emission
Sometimes you find that Windows does not go into the suspend mode (Power saving mode) even after the set duration of inactivity. That’s because sometimes Windows misinterprets background tasks as activity and remains awake instead of going into the suspend mode.
If you have that problem, a simple free program called CO2 Saver may help you. It is a small file that you can download and install under a minute. Once installed, it sits on your desktop and shows how much CO2 you (and other users) have saved by using suspend mode.

Once installed CO2 Saver immediately adjusts your Windows Power Management settings to reduce your computer’s energy use when it’s idle. CO2 Saver can put Windows into sleep mode even when the operating system wrongly believes there is activity. To do this, click the Options link at the right end of CO2 Saver. You may need to click on the right-arrow to expand the toolbar to make the Options link visible. With the Power Saving tab in front, choose Custom from the drop-down list. Then click the link below. In the Custom Power Saving dialog box, check Initiate sleep mode if system doesn’t sleep automatically. Click Ok.
Of course, if you are very particular about saving power, you can manually put your computer to sleep everytime you think you need to go away for an extended time. In Windows XP you could do that easily by choosing Start > Turn Off Computer and clicking the Stand By option.
