Many programs do not appear in the Add/Remove Windows Components dialog. Here’s how to put them there.

  • Open Notepad and choose File->Open.
  • Navigate to the Windowsinf folder and type the filename Sysoc.inf.
  • Click Open to open this Setup information file in Notepad.
  • Choose Edit->Replace.
  • In the Find what text box, type Hide. Don’t put anything in the Replace With box and click Replace All(this removes the word Hide from all the entries and means they won’t be hidden).
  • Click Cancel and then File->Save and File->Exit.
  • Open the Control Panel and choose Add/Remove Windows Components. In the dialog many Windows items such as Games and Wordpad can now be removed.
