How to view cached files in Firefox.

Firefox does not have a menu command for viewing the cached files though you can clear the cache through the menu. But what if you wanted to view the cached files? For instance, you may want to locate a flash file which you saw on a recently browsed webpage. The .swf would be cached, but where? Here is how you can find the cached images, pages and flash files in Firefox. Firefox Cache

Open a new tab in Firefox and type about:cache in the address bar and hit Enter. You will be presented with two sections – Memory cache device and Disk cache device – as the names imply the list is segregated based on their present storage. Just click on the ‘List Cache Entries‘ link to view the files. Be warned that the list can be quite huge. You stand little chance of finding what you want by just scrolling down the list. The better option would be to use ‘ F‘ to bring up the Firefox search bar and typing in a portion of the site name or if it is flash files you are after then type ‘.swf ‘ . Once you find the file, you can click on the link to open the file. You may then want to save the file elsewhere for easy reach.
